Stargirl. From the day she arrives at quiet Mica High in a burst of color and sound, the hallways hum with the murmur of “Stargirl, Stargirl.” She captures Leo Borlock’s heart with just one smile. She sparks a school-spirit revolution with just one cheer. The students of Mica High are enchanted. At first.

Then they turn on her. Stargirl is suddenly shunned for everything that makes her different, and Leo, panicked and desperate with love, urges her to become the very thing that can destroy her: normal.
  -Summary from Goodreads

Jerry Spinelli did an amazing job with Stargirl! He painted this character that to some may seem creepy or unreal but to others she is an image of who you would want to be. Stargirl is always thinking of others instead of herself, she is original and doesn't seem to be bothered with other peoples thoughts of her. The way Jerry wrote, it was almost poetic at times. There is a deep message in this book, and that message can be different for every person who reads it. This book is heartfelt. It is sincere. It is enchanting. I recommend this book, I did enjoy it. I gave it four stars. Why not five? Well, though it is well written, has a strong message and overall a good book, I don't think I could re-read it.

Exerpt:

She was elusive. She was today. She was tomorrow. She was the faintest scent of a cactus flower, the flitting shadow of an elf owl. We did not know what to make out of her. In our minds we tried to pin her to corkboard like a butterfly, but the pin merely went through and away she flew.
